Sensors for measuring vibration velocities
Ibis vibration velocity sensors are used to measure oscillations or vibrations in industrial machines and systems. They detect the speed at which a certain point in a machine moves back and forth. The sensors recognise the vibrations using various physical principles and convert them into electrical signals that can be interpreted by an evaluation system.
These speed sensors play an important role in the preventive maintenance of machines by recognising early signs of imbalances, alignment problems, bearing defects or other faults.
Overview of the vibration velocity sensors
Vibration velocity transducer
Type PMG 81
Vibration velocity sensors for the transmission of mechanical vibrations into an analogue electrical alternating voltage for an operating frequency of up to 2,000 Hz
Vibration velocity transducer
Type PMG 85
Sensors for the transmission of mechanical vibrations into an analogue electrical alternating voltage for an operating frequency of up to 500 Hz
Condition monitoring of machines
Areas of application for vibration velocity sensors in machines
In all of these applications, vibration velocity sensors help to ensure the integrity, efficiency and safety of machinery, structures and other systems by providing early warning of unusual vibrations that could indicate potential problems or signs of wear.
-
Motors:
In engines, whether in industry, vehicles or other applications, vibration velocity sensors monitor the vibrations of the engine components. Abnormal vibrations can indicate imbalances, bearing wear or problems with the pistons.
-
Gearbox:
In gearboxes, vibration velocity sensors monitor the vibrations of the gearbox components. Abnormal vibrations can indicate tooth wear, alignment problems or other gearbox defects.
-
Generators:
In power generators and alternators, vibration velocity sensors help to monitor the vibrations in the rotor and stator. This is important in order to monitor the condition of the generators and minimise downtimes.
-
Fan and blower:
Vibration velocity sensors are used in fans and blowers to monitor vibrations. Abnormal vibrations can indicate imbalances, wear or problems with the fan blades.
-
Pumps:
Vibration velocity sensors are used in industrial pumps to monitor the vibrations of the pump components. Irregular vibrations can indicate problems such as cavitation or imbalances in the pump.
